My name is Judith Sargent Murray and I was born in 1751.

In the bustling city of Boston, in the heat of summer and the freeze of winter, I interpreted history on the Freedom Trail as revolutionary feminist, Judith Sargent Murray.

I wrote and performed a 90-minute tour encompassing 1.5 miles of the Freedom Trail with a specific focus on women’s history in colonial New England.

I performed to audiences as minute as a single person and as large as 83 people without the help of a microphone and kept audiences young and old engaged and laughing throughout. But don’t take my word for it! Take a look at the reviews of my tour below.

What the People are Saying

“We loved the tour because the guide Anna, as Judith Sargent Murray, was enthusiastic to talk about her role as an advocate for women’s rights - I liked it because my daughter was with us. Of course, Anna was knowledgeable about the rest of the historical facts as well. My daughter was looking forward to go through this walking tour and she was happy when Anna called her up and other young ladies for a short enactment of Boston Massacre. I highly recommend this tour with Anna especially if you have a teenage daughter”

“Our guide (Anna) did such a great job! Enthusiastic and informative. We learned a ton and the time flew. She was very knowledgeable, pointed out many details and offered the opportunity to ask any questions. We walked away with so much new information. Would definitely recommend.”

“Had such a great tour with Anna! My friend and I were the only people there and Anna did the tour anyway and it was a great personalized experience. Anna's tour was not only very educational but engaging. Anna was able to add personal touches to the tour based on our own interests in the American Revolution (her knowledge of feminism during that time period was impressive!)

Thank you Anna and the Freedom Trail tour service for hosting us and giving us great look into Boston's piece of American history.”
